Florida Department of Transporation Electric School Bus Replacement Allocation – Up to $116 Million

Electric School Bus Project – The Florida Department of Transportation has made available over $5 million for an initial phase to replace old diesel school buses with electric school buses statewide.

The purpose of this project is to develop best practices for the Mitigation Plan’s School, Transit, and Shuttle Bus Initiative, which is allocated 70 percent, or about $116 million, for funding bus replacement projects. Florida public school districts may use this grant application worksheet to apply for up to 100 percent cost-reimbursement from the Department for the replacement of 2009 or older diesel school buses with new electric battery-powered school buses and associated charging infrastructure.
