Why Miami, Why Downtown?

The #HowCanIHelp and #MiamiTech movements helped encourage North Equity’s focus on Miami. Suarez’s idea of businesses and leaders being in it together and being willing to help has fueled growth in the Miami market and North Equity is just one firm to take advantage of it.

North Equity has focused on Miami for a number of additional reasons. These include the legacy of media in Miami, with iconic histories, like the Miami Herald, and Spanish language powerhouses like Univision, Miami is a world city. Not to mention the fabric of the city, the car culture, the science, and the businesses here accentuate North Equity’s portfolio of titles.

North Equity is eyeing a relocation to the downtown area because of the easy access to Wynwood, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and of course the beaches!

What North Equity Will Bring to Miami

Mayor Suarez wants to create, not just jobs in Miami, but careers. North Equity hopes to do just that, with talent from within Miami and from those willing to relocate to the Magic City. They are hoping to fill 30 open positions to start.

North Equity has already discussed itsplanswith the Downtown Development Authority. These include job creation over the next three years, paying an average salary of $80,000 each, and occupying as it locates as much as 80,000 square feet in commercial space. In total, it has proposed $4 million in capital investments. Should it meet those targets, the DDA will grant North a total of $150,000.

North Equity’s growth strategy includes continued investment in iconic media titles. They’ve succeeded in expansion, despite the pandemic, over the last several years. They hired throughout the pandemic and achieved 100% organic growth throughout their portfolio.

North Equity’s online properties now collectively generate 45 million unique visitors a month. Perlman says North has poured resources into back-end technology and the ability of their brands to stand on their own through dedicated audiences for their success.
